March Theme: A Great Day for New Beginnings 😮 💫
Today, March 21, is the first full day of Spring, and this energy of fresh starts is even further amplified by a gorgeous New Moon in the sky.
So, today is the perfect moment to celebrate how hard you worked this winter, and then, look forward to new adventures, goals, and challenges this Spring. The time is ripe for beginnings.
With that, I want to share something near and dear to my heart. It's the first tangible artifact of what I've been working on for three years and dreaming about for a decade-- it's my BOOK COVER!
Obviously, the cover itself is just an image, a 2D mashup of pixels meant to attract eyeballs, but to me, it's so much more. It's the visual representation of my first creative act after a decade in the corporate world. It's a fresh start that arrived in my mid-30s. It's my real-world proof that it's never too late for a new beginning.
To honor the spirit of spring today, I wanted to tell you about the origins of my book, and why it is so deeply meaningful to me.
Four years ago, I quit my job in venture capital, even though every logical part of my brain told me I shouldn't. After all, I had spent my entire adult life trying to find safety and security in my career so I could escape the empty fridges and bounced checks of my financially insecure childhood. I made logical, practical decisions, like deciding to work in the tech industry and pursuing an early career in recruiting, even though I wasn't passionate about any of these choices.
Still, there was a part that believed a different future might be possible. I dreamed of a career that was not only financially fulfilling but personally, emotionally, and spiritually fulfilling, too, so I set out to find it. I knew the answer wasn't going to come from business books, mentors, or industry knowledge. Instead, I turned to my spiritual life. I committed to Buddhism, became a meditation teacher, trained in Reiki, and studied astrology. I got support from healers, Ayahuasca, and past life regressions. I tried to figure out who I really was underneath my ingrained professional costume.
The answer was Reset, and despite MANY ups and downs, I finally realized my dream. Over the past few years of forging my unique professional path, and coaching CEOs and founders as they do the same, I've learned Three Primary Truths that compelled me to write this book:
1.) You possess an Inner Genius - there is something in this world that you, and you alone, are meant to do that no one else can.
2.) To activate your Inner Genius, you must learn how to hear your intuition, trust yourself, and redefine success on your own terms.
3.) Your spiritual life is not a time-drain or a diversion from work, but rather, the essential soil from which all your greatest achievements grow.
It may seem strange to pair the concept of spirituality with professional life, but it's truly what we need in the world right now. We've been trying to bring more mental health awareness and support systems in our workplaces, but it's not working. We are even more burnt out, unhappy, and unfulfilled than we've ever been. It's clear that the traditional path to professional success just isn't working.
I wrote this book to offer an alternative professional path to anyone who feels constricted, constrained, and unseen by the status quo of career success. It's a handbook for how to achieve your greatest ambitions and dreams while doing it in a way that is true to yourself. By reading the book, you learn the Four Pillars of Spiritual Strategy—inquiring inward, manifesting mindfully, enriching your energy, and becoming brilliant. You will also be guided by stories of business leaders, tech visionaries, and regular people who have learned how to access their intuition in order to unlock their full potential.
I wrote this book from my experiences coaching fast-growth CEOs and founders, but I also was also inspired by ancient sources of wisdom including Zen Buddhism, the Tao, Reiki healing, astrology, and Vipassana meditation. My goal is to show you how to slow down and look inward to find the meaning and success you are meant to have. I wrote it for you, and with the hope that in some small way, it supports you and cheers you on.
Thank you for letting me share a bit about this book, this new beginning of mine. Today, I'm celebrating the many endings and fresh starts it took me to be here today, and I welcome you to do the same with your own. Here's to Spring, new beginnings, and it never being too late to try again. 🐣
Love,
Liz
